my gypsy shoes . . . .

Here are my gypsy shoes.

Nine years ago,

With intention,

I put them aside.

I ignored them diligently.

They will not leave me.

When I dance,

They cavort along.

When I am in woe,

They walk over,

And keep company.

When I astral travel,

They are on my feet

Like fairy tale slippers.

I click my heels and murmur,

“There is no place

In the cosmos

That is not home.”

Balance

Iron_Angel_Large_Fullsize_print
Art ~ Michael Parkes

 Sometimes I am not aware

My life hangs in the balance.

I daily choose avenues

At my crossroads

Without hesitation.

My destiny unfolds

With apparent seamlessness.

Today is different.

Today the gods and one person decide my fate.

Yes or no?

I wait.

My life hangs in the balance.

I am aware this time.

The reason I know this:

Pieces of my heart grind

Against my ribcage

As I wait.

For the last 25 years,

It has been an American trend

To believe that if you need nobody

You are complete.

Symptom of life in the unbalance.

RUNNING

m parkes running
Art ~ Michael Parkes

I run

On fleet feet.

Some creatures embody

Achievement

Approval

Security

Love

For me.

I run after them.

But I have learned to be careful of mirages.

Mirages can speak cruel things.

After enough battering words,

I run away.

The mirage that disappoints the most,

The one who says the cruelest things

To me,

Is myself.
